Reasons Schengen Visas Get Rejected for Saudis and Residents, and How to Avoid Them (2026)

Summary

Most Schengen rejections come down to an incomplete or unconvincing file, not the applicant. The embassy wants to be sure of 3 things: that you can afford the trip, that you'll return home, and that your trip is clearly defined. Any weakness in one of these = rejection.

The 10 Most Common Reasons for Rejection and the Fix for Each

#ReasonHow to avoid it
1A bank statement with a low balance or little activityA 3–6 month statement with normal activity and a balance that covers the trip (in practice SAR 15,000+ or ~SAR 1,500 for each day)
2Depositing a large sum a few days before applyingThe embassy treats it as a "borrowed balance." Keep the balance natural over several months, or attach an official sponsorship letter
3An unattested salary certificateFor the private sector: attested by the Chamber of Commerce, in English, and addressed to the embassy
4Applying to the wrong embassyApply to the country where you'll spend the longest stay, or the first country you enter if the durations are equal
5Hotel and flight bookings that don't match the itineraryDates and cities must match across the booking, the itinerary, and the application form
6Non-compliant travel insuranceAt least EUR 30,000 coverage, for all Schengen countries, and for every day of the trip
7A passport with insufficient validity or too oldValid for 3 months after return (6 preferred), issued within the last 10 years, and with two blank pages
8Non-compliant photos3.5×4.5 cm, white background, recent
9Weak ties of return (especially for residents)Valid residency for 3 months after return + work contract + exit and re-entry visa
10Conflicting information on the application formCheck every letter: name exactly as in the passport, occupation, employer, travel dates

Which Embassy Is Easier?

There is no "guaranteed" embassy, but based on our current experience: Italy is usually the fastest, with more available appointments, followed by Greece and Spain, then France and Germany. However, choosing the embassy isn't up to you — it has to match your travel itinerary, otherwise it becomes a reason for rejection in itself. Appointment availability changes weekly.

Rejected? You Have Two Options

  1. Appeal: within the deadline stated in the rejection letter (usually 30 days). Suitable if you believe the embassy made a mistake or there's a document you can clarify.
  2. Reapply: with a new file that addresses the rejection reason stated in the letter. Usually faster and more successful when the reason is financial or documentary.

Embassy fees are non-refundable in either case. And if your file was with us, we'll rebuild it for free.

FAQ

Does a previous rejection affect the next application? It shows in the system, but it doesn't bar you. What matters is addressing the reason stated in the rejection letter.

Can I apply to a different embassy after a rejection? Only if your new travel itinerary genuinely makes it the correct embassy.

How long should I wait before reapplying? There's no mandatory waiting period, but don't reapply with the same file — fix the reason first.
