India e-Visa 2026 + the Mandatory e-Arrival Card

By Mohammed Al-Ahdal — founder of Smooth Travel · Last updated 2026-09-24

Summary

Two separate things: the visa (two weeks before you travel) + the arrival card (within the last 72 hours before arrival). Miss one and it's a problem at the airport.

1. The e-Visa

  • Types: 30-day tourist, multiple-entry one year, or multiple-entry five years
  • Issued in: 3–5 business days
  • Apply at least two weeks before you travel

2. The e-Arrival Card (new for 2026)

  • Mandatory for all foreign travellers from 1 April 2026 (replacing the paper card)
  • Filled in within the last 72 hours before arrival
  • Gives you a QR code to show at passport control
  • Free of charge from the government

Common mistakes that stall your application (from real cases)

  • Payment: some cards and digital wallets get charged without the payment being recorded. Use a bank card, once, and don't retry — 3 failed attempts can lock the application.
  • Opening the application in two windows ends the session.
  • Background questions (such as previous stays) can't be edited after you confirm — review them before you submit.
  • Place of birth must match your passport.

Our service

For 150 ريال SAR: we obtain the e-Visa + fill in the arrival card 72 hours before your trip and send you the QR code on your WhatsApp.

FAQ

What if I forget the arrival card? You may be delayed or denied at boarding or at the airport. Don't risk it. Do children need an arrival card? Yes, every traveller does. How long can I stay? It depends on the visa type; a single visit is usually up to 90 days for the one-year and five-year visas.
